How to Nail Your Query Letter and First Ten Pages

with Jaida Temperly

Literary agents receive hundreds of queries a week. So how can you ensure that your query stands out from the crowd? In this workshop, we’ll cover proven methods for crafting your query letter and polishing your sample pages, including topics like:

o   Core query logistics: format, wordcount, plot points

o   Using comparative “comp” titles effectively

o   Case studies of successful queries

o   Best practices for the first pages of a manuscript

o   How voice, pacing, and plotting influence first-page content

o   Common querying mistakes to avoid

o   Where to find additional support and resources

Participants will leave understanding critical parts of query composition and the role of sample pages so that they can start approaching agents as soon as they finish their manuscript.

There will also be time reserved for an informal Q&A, to ensure participants have any questions or concerns about their work resolved.

THIS SESSION WILL BE RECORDED AND WILL BE AVAILABLE TO PAYING PARTICIPANTS FOR A WEEK AFTER THE EVENT.
