Kickstart Your Writing #1 with Victoria Gosling and Jane Flett

On the weekend of October 1st & 2nd, Jane and Victoria will be hosting The Reader’s acclaimed two-day introductory workshop, covering the basics of fiction writing. Suitable for new writers or offering a shot in the arm for those who want to reinvigorate their writing practise, the course will cover establishing a writing routine, with exercises to kickstart the imagination, tuition on characterisation and dialogue (Saturday), followed by a class on plot and structure, guidance on editing, and a brief overview of how to begin finding publishers for your work (Sunday). The perfect place to reignite your love of writing, the workshop will provide inspiration and encouragement in equal measure in a supportive, creative environment.
Victoria Gosling is the founder of The Reader Berlin and The Berlin Writing Prize. Her debut novel BEFORE THE RUINS was published by Henry Holt in January 2021 (USA) and Serpent’s Tail in May 2021 (UK). Her second novel BLISS AND BLUNDER is forthcoming from Serpent’s Tail in summer 2023. She is represented by Judith Murray of literary agency Greene & Heaton.
Jane Flett is a Scottish writer based in Berlin. Her fiction has been commissioned for BBC Radio 4, featured in Electric Literature’s Recommended Reading, and awarded the New Orleans Writing Residency. Her poetry features in the Best British Poetry and received the Berlin Senate Award for non-German literature. She is represented by Marina de Pass of the Soho Agency (UK) and Alexis Hurley of Inkwell Management (US).
