The Fiction Workshop

Course tutor: Ambika Thompson
When: Wednesdays 19:00-21:00
Date: November 9, 2022
Where: Another Country Bookshop
Number of sessions: 6
Maximum participants: 12

This workshop is open for all those interested in the art of the short story and story telling in general, regardless of experience. Every session you’ll be provided with a short story or novel excerpt from a historically underrepresented writer that will be discussed in the first half of the class, as well as a writing exercise that will focus on a particular element of said piece, such as tone, use of dialogue, theme, style, character development and/or structure, and which you will be given the opportunity to share in the class.

The second half of each session will focus on the participants’ own works to be workshopped where you’ll be provided with feedback, suggestions and tons of encouragement, and you’ll have the opportunity to develop your  own editorial ability. This workshop will create a safe space for sharing your own work and for engaging with the work of others.
