How do I sign up?
Before agreeing to take part in any course, it’s essential you read the Terms & Conditions below. To sign up to one-day, evening or daytime courses, please write a short email to hello@thereaderberlin.com with a couple of lines about yourself and your writing experience. We try to create the best groups possible, so this information is vital. Don’t forget to include the name of the course, tutor, and the dates you are interested in.
In the event we are offering an intensive courses, we need a little information from you and will send you a short form to fill out. To express interest, please send a brief email to hello@thereaderberlin.com, telling us which course you would like to take part in. We will respond promptly. A deposit is also required for us to hold you a place. Please refer to payment information.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Course Information and Bookings
All information regarding the courses is correct at the time of publication.
Your place on the course is not confirmed until we have received your deposit and/or fees. All fees must be paid before commencement of course unless otherwise agreed with the tutor. Unfortunately, where a course session may be missed due to illness or any other reason, we are unable to offer any refunds or exchanges.
If we do not receive the deposit or the balance of the course fees by the start date of the course, or as otherwise outlined in the payment terms, we reserve the right to offer the place to someone else and your deposit will be forfeit.
Course Changes
We reserve the right to make changes to the advertised programme information (including, but not limited to, course content, tutors, venues and times) for any reason at any time, but will aim to provide as much advance notice as possible, and will always endeavour to replace tutors with someone of equal experience and standing.
Cancellations
What happens if you want to cancel?
In the case of intensive courses we are happy to accept cancellations up to eight weeks before the course you are booked on commences and we will refund the full cost of the course.
If you need to cancel less than four weeks before the intensive course takes place, we will do our best to find a replacement and if we succeed, the balance of your fee will be returned less a €75 reservation charge. If we are unable to do so, we reserve the right to retain the full fee.
In the case of evening courses, if you give two weeks’ notice of cancellation or your tutor is able to find a replacement student, your fees will be returned.
In the case of one-day workshop and seminars, your ticket will be refunded if you give a week’s notice of cancellation.
What happens if we cancel?
In the rare circumstance where we may need to cancel a course, we will provide you with as much advance notice as possible and shall either endeavour to offer you an alternative course of the same standing or return all fees paid, but shall not pay travel or any other costs.
In the event a course session is cancelled, we will endeavour to provide an alternative course session, but shall not be obligated to do so, and any course fees shall not be refundable.
We do not provide cancellation insurance and advise all those booking places to take out their own travel/other insurance to cover against any circumstances that may lead to the cancellation of your booking.
What happens if you want to leave a course after it has started?
By paying the deposit and securing your place you are committing to attend the course for its full duration. We do not pay refunds once the courses have begun.
Conduct
The Reader Berlin is renowned for the supportive and encouraging environment of its workshops. Honesty is always vital, as is understanding of the work others are trying to achieve. We do everything within our power to set the stage for the good times, and then to let them roll.
We reserve the right to refuse a place and to exclude from a course anyone who behaves, in the opinion of The Reader Berlin staff, course directors and/or tutors, in an abusive or disruptive manner or engages in any discriminatory conduct. If a student is asked to leave the course on this basis, we will not offer a refund.
Confidentiality and Copyright
You also agree to keep confidential during and after the course any information and/or material which is divulged by other students on the course as a result of class discussions or other discussions held during The Reader Berlin’s courses (either oral or written). All class discussion is private and confidential.
You agree not to make any audio or visual recordings of the sessions, the work of the tutor, guest speakers or of your fellow students whilst attending the course.
You warrant and indemnify to The Reader Berlin that any work you may write during the course shall be your own and shall not infringe the copyright of any third party. This warranty shall survive any cancellation or termination of the course.
General
We cannot accept responsibility for any loss, damage or expense sustained by students as a result of an event or circumstance whether arising from natural cause, human agency or beyond our control otherwise.
These Terms and Conditions (Terms) may be changed at any time by us. If we make any changes to these, we will include a notice on the News page of The Reader Berlin website. You accept that you will have no claim for breach of contract or otherwise in respect of any such alteration.
