LAST CHANCE! – Faber author, BBC National Short Story Award Winner, and long-time Reader favourite Clare Wigfall is shortly to take up a prestigious eight-month fellowship at Schloss Solitude near Stuttgart, but we are thrilled to announce that she is offering one last round of her hugely-popular 7-week Writing Workshop before she leaves.  Grab a spot before it’s too late!  Designed to help you generate a body of new work, this perfectly-structured course guarantees to inspire your imagination.  Whether you are an experienced writer or a total beginner, under Clare’s gentle guidance each workshop will provide prompts and exercises to make the writing process simple and allow you to develop your craft and experiment with new techniques.  You’ll be amazed at what you can produce.  You’ll also be introduced to inspirational and thought-provoking writing by established authors and have a chance to hone your critical skills through group discussion of the texts.  Clare’s workshops have a proven track record of inspiring her students to produce award-winning, publishable writing.  This course will work you hard and provide challenges, but it also promises lots of fun and laughter, as well as much stimulation and encouragement from the others in the group.

A graduate of the prestigious UEA Masters Programme, Clare has taught writing workshops all over Europe, including for the Arvon Foundation and the BBC; she is approachable, generous with her experience, and her teaching has an energy that never fails to inspire her students.  Suitable for advanced writers to total beginners, this special workshop series guarantees to inspire.  It also offers an unbeatable opportunity to work with an author described as “an assured literary conjuror” (The Guardian) and the author of tales “sorrowful, disturbing and darkly beautiful” (London Review of Books).  Her debut story collection The Loudest Sound and Nothing was published by Faber and Faber to critical acclaim in 2007 and the following year its opening story was given the BBC National Short Award.  She is currently working on a new collection of stories and is under commission following that to write a novel set in early 20th century British Malaya.

LAST CHANCE! – For those who have completed Clare’s first course and are now eager for more, we are delighted to be offering a final round of her follow-up Part Two course before Clare takes up her eight-month fellowship at Schloss Solitude near Stuttgart.  Grab a spot before it’s too late!  Workshops will continue in a similar vein, with a balance of critical discussion and guided exercises to inspire new work and creativity.  You’ll be challenged to explore new techniques and genres that you might not have previously considered, such as dystopian fiction and writing in a historical context.  You’ll also have the chance to get to grips with some thoroughly unlikeable characters, as well as exploring how to mine your own experience for inspiration.  Encouragement and guidance will be given to help you with shaping your ideas into fully developed writing and, new to this course, you will be given an invaluable opportunity to workshop one of your pieces with the group.  The course will be surprising, it will be fun, and at times it will be demanding, but what is guaranteed is that once again you will end it with a notebook crammed full of words and ideas.  As you already know from experience, it’s quite certain that Clare’s workshops will stimulate your imagination; where you let that imagination take you now is up to you!

Level 2 is designed for students who have already taken Clare’s first Kickstart Your Imagination course.

A graduate of the prestigious UEA Masters Programme, Clare has taught writing workshops all over Europe, including for the Arvon Foundation and the BBC; she is approachable, generous with her experience, and her teaching has an energy that never fails to inspire her students.  Designed for students who have already worked with Clare, this new follow-on workshop series guarantees to inspire.  It also offers another unbeatable opportunity to work with an award-winning author described as “an assured literary conjuror” (The Guardian) and the author of tales “sorrowful, disturbing and darkly beautiful” (London Review of Books).
