“Life’s A Beach” Summer Fiction Workshop with Michael Jeffrey Lee

This seven-week workshop will offer a spirited and supportive environment for fiction writers of all levels. This is the perfect venue for composing new stories, revising existing drafts, or readying pieces for publication. Students can expect to receive detailed feedback on their work, and will have the opportunity to conference with their instructor. Please note that this is a traditional-style workshop: class-time will be primarily dedicated to discussion of student-submitted manuscripts. Critiques will be illuminating, undogmatic, and respectful of all genres. And no sunscreen necessary–this one’s completely online.

Michael Jeffrey Lee’s first collection, Something in My Eye, received the Mary McCarthy Prize and was published by Sarabande. His stories have appeared in N+1, BOMB, The Southern Review, and The Rupture, among others. He has taught fiction at Tulane University, the University of Louisiana, and New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA). He was the recipient of the Yale Educator Award for his work at NOCCA. He is also the vocalist for Budokan Boys, who are part of this year’s SHAPE Platform.
